The new flu outbreak and what you can do about it

January 28th, 2020

If you have watched the news or read about it online, you’re probably worried and terrified about this new highly-communicable illness. Almost two decades has passed since the SARS phenomena caused worldwide panic and here we go again. There are a lot of well-meaning advise that we can get from mainstream health authorities, but if you go over it seriously, they are all just the usual advise given for any type of infectious disease such as strict hand washing, wearing face masks, hydration and if you’re symptomatic, take antipyretics or analgesics.

It’s interesting to know that the people in Wuhan, China (the Chinese government is doing its best to quarantine affected areas and assist the afflicted) are actually waiting in line for medications when there are no vaccines available yet. Antibiotics are not effective and synthetic antivirals are non-specific. How can you prevent yourself from getting infected then?

Well, a strong and healthy Immune System is definitely your body’s first line of defense to combat any type of illness. Strengthening the Immune System is the main focus of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Doctors work on towards making a person healthy rather than treating them when they are already sick.

So let us focus on the things that can contribute to strengthening the Immune System and keeping it healthy. Ideally, all the nutrients our body needs to have a strong Immune System should come from our diet. However, since we’re getting a lot of CRAP in our diet (CARBONATED drinks, REFINED sugar, ARTIFICIAL sweeteners/colors, and PROCESSED foods), we do not get the proper nutrition our body requires such Vitamins A, C, D3, and Zinc.

Vitamin A plays a pivotal role in maintaining our body’s natural defenses. This includes the mucous membranes in our eyes, lungs, gut, and genitals. It is also involved in the production and function of our white blood cells.

Then, there’s vitamin C. Most people know that taking vitamin C helps with their immune system. Aside from being an antioxidant, it also works as an anti-infective and anti-tumoral agent at higher doses. Dr. Linus Pauling has done most of the great research on vitamin C.

Vitamin D3 is also very important . It is not just a bone-building vitamin but also a pro-hormone and an immune modulating agent. Vitamin D3 deficiency causes conditions such as SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and increased vulnerability to viral infections such as the flu during the rainy months. Living in a tropical climate such as the Philippines doesn’t guarantee that we have optimal levels of vitamin D.

Zinc is a trace element that is necessary for a well-functioning Immune System and a lack of it can make a person more susceptible to illnesses as well.

Essential oils have been used since the ancient times to help ward off illness. A lot of these oils are mentioned in the Bible. One popular concoction or blend is called thieves essential oil . During the plague that happened during the Middle Ages, there were these group of thieves who protected themselves from the plaque by using this blend of essential oils. They applied it on their bodies to protect themselves while actually looting corpses of their jewelry. The rulers at that time had them apprehended and they eventually confessed that they used this remedy. The essential oils that they used then were from clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary. Other essential oils that have antimicrobial properties include peppermint, tea tree, lavender, oregano, palma rosa, orange, lemongrass, geranium, frankincense, basil and citronella.

For those who are susceptible to the cold/flu or any type of illness, immuno-compromised individuals, or for those who travel frequently, here are treatments that can help boost your immune system - HDVC (High Dose Vitamin C) Drip, Vitamin D Shots, IV Hydrogen Peroxide, injectable Thymus Peptides, IVIG, Ozone Ttherapy and EBOO which are all available at the J. Lopez, M.D. Medical Group Inc. clinic.

What makes our program unique is our personalized approach to healthcare. We work in partnership with our clients. We are proactive and we focus on preventive medicine. We use precise and predictive tests. And when it comes to nutrients, we only use pharmaceutical grade supplements. We usually do a comprehensive history and physical, along with cutting edge, science-based diagnostic tests from the US and Europe. Each person is unique so our treatments are customized and highly individualized.

IV drip clinics are everywhere and unfortunately some of them do cut corners while others do not have proper and extensive training in nutritional medicine or IV training since they primarily use the drips for skin whitening. Never compromise your health just for a cheaper price. My recommendation is to speak with an expert. Call us today and schedule your appointment.
